My ideas for my main task magazine cover and contents. Uploaded on the (29/02/2016).

I'll be doing a magazine based on rock but I may also implement some music from video games, but still staying true to the rock genre. So this will be the conventional genre of my magazine.

Title Ideas:
.3Lectrock! = Probably go with this one.
I will use this one as it is a merge of two words, those being "electric" and "rock", these both represent the genre as "electric" suggests "electric guitar" which is a convention of rock, and "rock" just states the magazine will be based around the rock genre. Also, the "3" instead of an "E" shows it is modern and would appeal to the target audience of whom use "text talk".
.Rock Central
This is also a good name as it represents that we are a rock magazine, and the word "Central" shows we are the centre of rock, where you should come for all of your rock news, it also shows the fact we have all the rock news.
.Sonic Symphonic's
Sonic the hedgehog is a modern iconic gaming character, known for his good music. Most of the music featured is rock, and is performed by a band called "Crush 40" which most people will know. This is because one idea for my magazine was video game music staring sonic, but that idea has passed, but it is where this idea has come from. "Symphonic's" just suggests it is based on sonic's music. It is also also a "sibilance" which is alliteration for the letter "S" which was used for emphasis.
. M3TAL Core
This was based on my original genre, which was metal core. "M3TAL" is is capitals to show how relevant it is. The "3" replaces the "E" to show that we are modern, and speak in "Text talk". Finally, the word "Core" shows we are the core of metal, we are what you should come to for all your metal news, and we are the core of the community.

To aid me in creating my music magazine, we did a photo shoot to take primary pictures for my music magazine. I took a range of close ups, mid shots and long shots to aid me in creating my music magazine. I was going for a rock-vibe, so I wore close according to that, props were also used to aid me in this, as me and my group were going for a rock band style, so we had many pictures with us four in the band with props such as microphones, guitars, pianos and drums accordingly.

First of all, we did a stage where on a black background we took close ups mainly, with some mid shots. This was to take pictures for our double page spread, as on it, we will have all the band members in close ups. I took a close up of me with sunglasses to give a rock-vibe, there was also a shot that captured the movement of us "smashing a guitar", this was to give off a rock vibe. These pictures were taking to be used on my double page spread.

Secondly, we went outside to take pictures of us against a wall, this was to also give off a rock-vibe. There are many pictures of the whole band up against the wall in different poses, and another looking like we are taking a "selfie" this is to appeal to the target audience, which is people our age, it shows we are involved in what they do, and makes it more modern/ There were also many pictures taken where we had all band props such as guitars, pianos, drums and a microphone with many pictures taken, this is to show the band, and these are also conventional instruments in a rock band. Finally, in this stage we took pictures of us against a beat up wall, to show we are "crazy" to overall give off that rock band feel. There was also a picture with a symbol on some ones head and me playing the drums on it to give off this "crazy rock band" feel, which will be on the double page spread, as it will link in with an interview article. These pictures will also be features on the double page spread, as they show all the band, and will be relevant to the articles. Most of the pictures where long shots here.

Finally, we took pictures on a white background and a green screen. The pictures on the white background were with 3 band members, me in the middle with a microphone, and two others either side of me with guitars, this is to show off the band, and its members. There was also pictures with the lighting in it, to give a sense of immersion to the readers. There were also pictures with me and one other sitting on an amp with props to give off the rock band feel again. We had similar pictures also on a green screen this time, where we will edit the places of the world in the background to show that we are "taking over the world" to again, give off the rock band vibe. As these pictures are mid shots of the band, with edited backgrounds, it would be most suitable to put these as my main images, as it shows what the magazine will be about, and is most appropriate for the magazine. Furthermore, we used the green screen to give off the "crazy rock band" feeling even more, by taking silly pictures and messing around with them, such as one band member cutting off the others head, or editing the green screen so it looks like one member is floating in a certain pose. Finally, we took a picture that captures the movements of someone hitting a tennis ball with a guitar like a baseball bat, this final picture is to give off again the "crazy rock band" feel, and will be a good image to use on the double page spread.

These are primary pictures I have taken at a photo shoot. I will go into detail about ones I will end up using, however all of these are viable choices.

The type of camera I used was a DSLR.

I was planning to use this one on my front cover to represent the "Joining the selfie craze?" article. I ultimately decided against it. The picture I went with was an actual selfie with options for effects, so it linked a lot more to the article, so I decided to go with that one instead.

I was considering using this picture on my double page spread, as there is an article detailing which guitar we use. Which is the guitar in the picture. Overall this close up of the guitar didn't fit in very well on the double page spread, but it was a picture I was highly considering using.

I will use this one ^ as my front cover picture. This is good as it shows us all in a mid shot to fit on the front cover. High-key lighting was used so that it is easier to see on the front cover, and so it overall looks more brighter. It was also used as it was it easier to blend the background into a complete white colour with the high-key lighting. This specific background drop was chosen as we wanted a plain white background that also links in with my colour scheme, with black and white being the primary colors, but also using red and yellow frequently.

This mid shot is the picture I ultimately decided to use on my double page spread. This is because the double page spread has an article on the band, and this picture shows all the band members, and what they play (mostly). Even the faces and expressions in this mid shot evoke a certain personality of each band member, so I felt it was a good one for my double page spread. It also fit nicely with my article as I could fit on the page well. The wall on the back is also damaged, so it represents that rock vibe I was trying to evoke. Furthermore, in this I used high-key lighting as it contrasted nicely with the black background, and goes nicely with my main colors being black and white. The rest of the picture also follows the same colour scheme of Black/White/Red and Yellow. Finally, it also sticks with the colour scheme of my magazine, being Black/White/Red and Yellow. So will all this I thought it was a great picture to use.

This is the picture I decided to put on my contents. This is because it has all of the band members on a mid shot, indicated (mostly) what instruments they play. It is of us taking a selfie which relates to one of my articles ("Joining the selfie craze?"). It also is on a wall that has graffiti on it, this relates to the rock genre, and rock vibe I was trying to emulate as it shows we don't follow the rules. Again, I used high-key lighting, as it is easier to look at, and is easier to blend. It also lines with the colour scheme I have been using of Black/White/Red and Yellow.

This mid shot ^ was a picture I was considering using but ultimately decided against it. I was going to use this as on the front cover and on my double page spread, the band has an interview called "Gone Mad?". I felt like this mid shot would have been appropriate as it symbolizes us doing a 'crazy' action which would link in with my article.

This one was the final one we took of us against a green screen, we were considering editing the world behind it showing we are 'taking the world by storm', but ultimately decided against it as there where just better pictures that fitted the purpose better.

These are just some of the pictures we took, these are some of the best ones I would consider using, some of them are close ups of me, some are mid shots, and some are of the band in various shots.

This is a questionnaire that I did on survey monkey. This was to gather results to help me in the creation of my front cover, double page spread, and contents page, and who I should aim it at.

My target audience is an adult basis (16-30) who are also males.

These are the questions I would ask people to help my magazine improve from my mock up.

What is your age?
What is your gender?
What colour will you want it to be?
What shot would you like the main image to be?
What articles would you like to see?
What images would you like to see?
Would you like to see how to contact us?
How long would you like the magazine to be?
Would you like to see interviews?
What ways could we gratify you in the magazine?

For my research for both my Production element and my G321 Institution and Audiences work, I have been studying an institution that produces and distributes magazines, that being Bauer Media, who formed in 1953. This institution also produces Kerrang! which is a magazine that I have studied and used as an example for my own magazine, as it matches the genre and the codes and conventions that I wish to replicate in my own production.  In the following article I discussed the importance of technology and convergence in attracting an audience:

This was my contents page that I uploaded on my finished products, I saw a few edits such as calling it "Electrock!" rather than "3Lectrock!". I also made a few grammatical errors and edited some text. This was the one I edited, the finished product is on the "Finished Product" page.
